Most of us are fortunate to be able to appreciate color around us. The images submitted to this website will hopefully increase appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us. While tragedy abounds, the scenes and places captured here are such that can bring much calmness to our spirit and through the window of our eyes a measure of healing. A fraction of a second in time is captured, yet those feelings of contentment remain for a very long time. I hope you are able to see what I mean as you meander through meadows or thick forests and perhaps even hear the rushing water of rivers and water falls. As you view many of my images I hope you are able to enjoy my photographic expression and perhaps glean from them a particular style and at the same time experience in a small way, through light and composition, the fresh air and serenity found in certain places. If you learn something about photography all the better. Not all has to be perfect for it to be a great shot, if it evokes emotion it has done its job. Wedding photography is quite a bit of work and I would not be fair if I did not mention that at any given time my more successful weddings have had a good outcome because of my trusted assistants, my daughter and my wife in particular who works much harder than I do ( everyone can see this), as sometimes crowd control is part of what she has to do when posing large groups. I have learned to depend on her and trust her judgment on many things wedding related. Besides she is just gorgeous! As a part time professional I also do my share of wedding photography. My wedding photography incorporates the journalistic approach and traditional style. My albums are a mixture of color and black and white photos. Equipment used includes two 35mm cameras, specialty portrait lens (85mm 1.8), two medium format cameras (negative size is 2 1/4) and Kodak professional Portra film in 35mm and 120 format. As of this year (2004), the emphasis will be on digital photography for weddings and portrait sessions. It is my hope to utilize this new technology to better serve all my clients while providing more creative freedom in covering these happy occasions. You must understand, I've photographed groups as large as one-hundred family members and with kids running around and other pleasant discussions going on, it can become quite challenging. Keeping your head above water is most important in these situations and doing it alone is not an option. I have been writing with light for a few years now. I normally look for the not so obvious when doing travel photography. Hence my family's complaint that they are not in the photos I take most of the time. I have acquiesced though, I make sure that when traveling with them, I include them in at least one frame per roll :-). This does not mean that I constantly shoot in abstract mode. It's always pleasant to shoot even what has been photographed time an time again. Because of the time of the day you may arrive, it always looks different. A full time computer techie by vocation and a part time professional photographer by night or weekends, depends on the assignment. Sometimes the line becomes blurry,.... not my shots though..., I've switched to auto-focus for most of my work. I will be posting images from time to time for your scrutiny, If you have any comments or would like to inquire about my wedding services please send me a message at this link:
